This project is actually one of my mom's ideas. She made about 20 of these to decorate her company's office and every year she brings them out, adds a poinsettia plant, and adds some Christmas spirit at work. I love the idea and it's right up my upcycling alley (I wonder where I get it from...) so I set out to make my own - using items I already had at my house. Please visit the link at the bottom of this post for the complete tutorial. Thank you!!I'll admit, this isn't the exact coffee can I used. I forgot to take a before picture, but this can holds some random nails in my garage, and could definitely be used as a "Santa can"...if I found another place to put those nails.Spray paint the can with red, and then add a thin line of glue and glitter.I cut a belt down to size and hot glued it to the can in a few spots.
You could add a small pine tree, or a poinsettia plant like my mom. I took some of the cut offs from our tree this year and some berries to create a little arrangement for our table. I think these could also work as vases for flowers, or as simple hostess gifts.
I have a ton of other upcycled and reused holiday decorations and projects over at my blog. I'd love for you to stop by!Original article and pictures take http://www.hometalk.com/11881009/reuse-an-old-coffee-can-as-christmas-decor site
