The dramatic progress in my kitchen has been accomplished on a relatively small budget.Never underestimate the power of paint and new hardware. Here is what the kitchen looked like when we first moved in ten months ago. The warmth of the wood cabinets against the warm paint color and brick was overwhelming. Here is what the kitchen currently looks like. First, we painted the walls, vent hood and the cabinets. Then, I whitewashed the brick and replaced the oven unit and hardware pulls. Then we removed the existing backsplash and replaced it with classic subway tiles. We also added height to the cabinets (which I will explain in another post). We also replaced the pendant light fixtures and built a pantry door for under $90 (that tutorial is in a separate post).Eventually, I would love to replace the counter tops and floors (I am thinking wood or concrete flooring), but unfortunately my budget says "hold your horses, sister!"
Hopefully you see, with a little bit of paint and elbow grease, you can completely transform your kitchen....no crazy investment required.
